Tim Harris

Tim Harris is the award-winning bestselling author of several laugh-out-loud series for kids, including Ratbags, Mr Bambuckle’s Remarkables, Toffle Towers, This is My Book, Exploding Endings and Funny Fairytales.

A former primary school teacher of 15 years, his stories are filled with quirky scenarios, loveable characters and plenty of imagination. Tim’s ‘humour with heart’ writing style has seen his books receive multiple awards, including a KOALA Winner (2025), six KOALA Honour Books (2017, 2019 and 2 x 2020, 2021, 2023), a YABBA Honour Book (2023) and a CBCA Notable (2018). His books have been published in Australia and the USA and have been translated into numerous languages.

Tim is also the founder of PRIMARY WRITERS, a writing and literacy school designed to teach primary school-aged kids the craft of writing. At Primary Writers, he has helped over 40 young people plan, draft, edit and publish their very own 20,000-word novels. An advocate for creativity and short stories, Tim’s presentations and workshops are dynamic and entertaining. He is a sought-after presenter, having worked in over 500 schools across Australia.

Tim lives in Sydney with his wife and four young children.

Jo Grinham 

Jo Grinham is a passionate educator with over 30 years of experience. She has taught boys, girls and co-ed classes from Pre K-6 at schools including Penrith Anglican College, Cranbrook and The King’s School. Her experience covers the core skills, behaviour management, NAPLAN, as well as gifted and talented, special needs and other programmes.

Jo has also been a guest lecturer at Macquarie University for the Early Childhood Graduate Programme. Jo has always championed the development of good foundations for children before they start school and in the first few years in the classroom. Jo has been a freelance writer for a textbook publisher – developing fun learning materials for primary students. 

In recent years, Jo was the Registrar at The King’s School. She enjoys partnering with parents to understand the best learning and development plans for their students. This mission continues at Primary Writers, working with good friend and former colleague Tim Harris. Jo is passionate about creating a caring community, where students and parents feel a sense of belonging at Primary Writers, as they enjoy creative writing and learning.
